description
This qualitative evaluation was designed to gain insights on physician and patient satisfaction with the CenteringPregnancy program, perceived strengths and weaknesses of the program, and ways to improve the program through focus groups with physicians and current or previous program participants. We conducted a 30-minute focus group with physicians participating in Project HOME’s CenteringPregnancy program, and a 1-hour focus group with patients participating in the program.
findings
Physicians and patients reported high levels of satisfaction with the CenteringPregnancy program offered by Project HOME at the Stephen Klein Wellness Center. Focus group participants specifically noted the value of the personal relationships and social support offered by the group-based program, as well as of the open and natural learning environment the program and its staff foster. Three themes emerged as primary avenues for program improvement: improving recruitment efforts, increasing attendance rates, and providing onsite doula support.
